Dr. Alec Spano

PT, DPT, CSCS, Pn1

Physical Therapist

Dr. Alec Spano received his Bachelor of the Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2017. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from The University of Florida in 2020. After receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Spano pursued his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS), a certification in nutrition from Precision Nutrition (Pn1) and certification from Active Life Rx for rehabbing the functional fitness athlete.

 

Dr. Spano then started working in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was promoted early to Center Manager of a PT clinic in the area less than a year out of school. He has also coached CrossFit in Gainesville, high school baseball for Oak Hall High School, and worked with various NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes as an intern in Plantation, Florida.

 

Dr. Spano’s passion for physical performance and wellness began and continues with his athletic endeavors. He was a high school baseball player for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, during which he had an award named after him- “The Alec Spano Hustle Award,” and later went on to become the vice president for the University of Florida’s Club Baseball team. During his time in college, he discovered CrossFit and continues to be a member of the community. He has competed in the CrossFit Games Open and various competitions, in which he placed in the top 96th percentile, and had the opportunity to compete in Quarterfinals and the Occupational Games in 2021. He continues to train in various functional fitness methodologies pursuing lifelong fitness and health.

 

Dr. Spano prides himself on patient care and the use of evidence-based treatments, utilizing exercise techniques from various domains to improve the function of the athlete or general population looking to return to daily pain-free activities. His treatments also include joint mobilizations, cupping, Graston, neuromuscular re-education, blood flow restriction therapy, and soft tissue mobilization. He values hard work and will stop at nothing to improve your function and pain.
